Remembering the May 2007dance tour
in Armenia
Of all the tours I have organized so far, this was the longest
one. A group of 42 people from six different countries joined
this 14-day tour.
Because of the length of our stay, I was able to include two
excursions that covered longer distances.
The popular two-day tour to the north, which includes the
scenic Haghartsin Monastery, an overnight stay at Sewan Lake,
and the Alpine landscape of this northern region, was repeated.
However, this time we were also able to cover a larger part
of Armenia. We visited the south east, with its rugged mountains,
and stayed two nights in Sisian.

Near Sisian we visited the mystifying stones
of Karahountj, universally assumed to be an early observatory,
which made a big impression. The site is beautiful and ancient,
well worth the visit. A tour by minibus revealed the more
deserted parts of Armenia, where road conditions are worse
and where we passed remote villages and deep gorges on our
way to Tatev Monastery.
Liudvig Poghosian was new on the teaching staff this year.
He presented traditional dances accompanied by three musicians.
His lively and genuine personality added an extra dimension
to his teaching. Pajlak Sarkisian was no newcomer; he has
already taught us many beautiful dances and again showed what
an excellent pedagogue and professional teacher he is. The
mix of their repertoire was well received by all participants.
We will surely see Liudvig and Pajlak back on future tours! |

Lieve Tineke,

Menschen, Ihr habt es ganz abwechslungsreich organisiert, was ja

My trip to Armenia means so much
to me. It was a joy and a privilege. I shall return!
Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and inspiration.
With very best wishes, Elaine (United Kingdom) . |

Dear Tineke,
One of your ‘sheep’, Claudia, will say: thank you
for all that we have seen and done in Armenia! It was a very interesting
time, I was really tired after the travel and my head was overfull
with a lot of very good memories.
Naira said so nice: "I hope, Armenia will have a little
place in your heart"
Yes, it will!
I appreciate that you have organized two dance teachers - it
was wonderful to learn the different dances with this two different
teachers! Slowly I start to teach the one or the other dance with
my group - looking forward to teach also the difficult ones.
