14.15 Guided tour: heading south, we will drive to Klungkung, the former capital of the district.
Here we will see the old court, the Puputan monument and the interesting museum, which gives a good impression of what life was like in the old days.
Our tour continues to the village of Celuk, famous for its silversmiths. We will visit a small cottage industry. You can do a bit of shopping there as well as see what a local house looks like. Via Sanur (where some of us have booked an extended stay), we go southwards to Jimbaran. This is the best place to enjoy a seafood dinner on the beach.
After dinner we go back to Ubud.

Taking small roads, we will visit Central North Bali. We will stop at Bedugul market with its orchids, fruit and vegetables; a good place to buy vanilla and other interesting local spices. From here we continue to Pura Ulun Danu, a beautiful temple on Lake Bratan. We will drive north through the central mountains to Lovina and have lunch.
After a visit to the hot springs in Banjar, we will take in a view of rice paddies and cacao plantations before arriving at the temple of Tanah Lot on the west coast. Tanah Lot is a popular spot for tourists and probably the most photographed place in Bali. The sunset here is famous, and for sure we won't be the only ones watching it!
On the way back to Ubud we will enjoy a nice dinner before returning to the hotel after a long day of impressions.

Continuing north, we will reach Kintamani, a highland area in the north of East Bali. The main attraction for visitors is located around Lake Batur where Penelokan village provides spectacular views of this crater lake and Mount Batur, set in a vast volcanic caldera. Driving southwards we will reach a small and less visited temple in Bangli-Pura Kahen. It is a mix in style of a Hindu and Chinese temple, built in the same style as the famous Besakih temple but not yet spoiled by extensive commercial activity.
